Our policy
If you supply personal information to us, we are legally bound by the Data Protection Act 1998 to ensure that such information is only used for the purpose for which it was requested and also to ensure that the data is held securely.
Personal Information
If you register as a user on this site you may be asked to supply limited personal information (anything which enables us to identify you in some way, such as your name and an email address).
Registration is not required for participation at this site, but all postings and contributions from unregistered guests must await manual vetting for spam. This necessarily means there is a delay before your posting appears.
When you register a verification email will be sent to the email address your provide. Registration is encouraged because your contributions thereafter are 'trusted' and appear immediately. This improves usablility and responsiveness for you and reduces work for us.
Your registered username will be visible when your comment is published, but your email address will not. Your email is used to verify that you are not a spammer, and may be used by a moderator to contact you if your comment is of interest to them.
Copyright Action operates voluntary surveys and polls for the purpose of research which will never require nor display personal information of any sort. We do log IP addresses and usernames to prevent deliberate or accidental multiple submission, but this information is only available to the site administrator and is confidential.
General
We may collect and record information in order for us to understand more about how our site is used and in turn to make the site better. In order to do this we may send cookies to your computer. A cookie will contain information that allows us to recognise that you have used the site before, and allows, for example, your name and email address to be “remembered” on comments for when you revisit the site. If you do not want cookies to be stored on your computer it is possible to disable this function within your browser without affecting your navigation around the site.
When you contact us
If you contact a moderator through an epuk.org email address, we will keep your email on file, and may share the contents with other moderators in order to answer or better understand your query
Other sites
This website may include links to other sites, where the content is not controlled by us. We cannot be held responsible for the contents of such websites, or the privacy of data collected by third party websites.
Who we share information with
We don’t. Copyright Action does not rent or sell mailing details to any third party. Copyright Action may occasionally send information about ourselves to other organisations whose work we support, but we will not pass your details to these organisations.
