The University of Cardiff and Graphic Science, with support from EPSRC are running a photography competition: engineering for life. It is free to enter for all UK residents. The top prize is £1000, with runner up prizes of £500. There are five categories: most creative interpretation of the brief, best technical image, best manipulated image, under 16s and best pic taken on a mobile phone.

The term include this clause:
By submitting your images, you agree that Engineering for Life and affiliated organisations may use them in the future, free of charge.
I have contacted the organisors asking for their comments.


Commendably, the organisers of this competition, as a result of this complaint, have now agreed that all non-winning entries will be deleted after the competition and intellectual rights will be respected. Well done them!
BUT...
Now the EU have launched a similar rights grab comp, aimed at youngsters:
