Last week the Pro-Imaging campaign for fair photo competitions ceased on the PI web site, and in its place a new and comprehensive web site has been launched at artists-bill-of-rights.org.
Pro-Imaging say "The aim of the new web site is to bring together all creative disciplines because photographers are not the only people being ripped off by unscrupulous competition organisers, and a broader based world-wide approach was considered necessary to combat this insidious and growing menace. We are hoping that by detaching the campaign from PI, other organisations will feel more comfortable with generating content and taking their share in the effort for which they will take full credit".
The Artists Bill of Rights is:
-
an ethical set of standards for the protection of your rights in your creative works (e.g. photographs, poems, paintings, music, stories, etc.) when you submit them to competitions, and it was created to -
-
provide the foundation for a campaign to combat the exploitation by private and public sector organisations of your exclusive rights in your creative works.
